Anybody here deep in to climate science? From what I found online I understand that in the US this may lead to a drier winter and a wetter one in the south. There is also a higher likelihood of CAT and LLWS.
If anybody here is deeper in to this sort of thing please share.
@RufusXS I’m interested in this and have watched videos about the super El Niño we’re entering. The very formation of it leads to its destruction from the beginning. I don’t think too much chaos is predicted for Europe, so I’m not expecting to notice much.
Not that I’d be expecting to notice what I presume you’re referring to ie clear air turbulence and low level wind shear.
@RufusXS I am following weather science with great interest. We have noticed a change over the last 5 to 8 years here in NZ with our notorious Nor’westerlies becoming more prevalent all year around instead of just the last few months of the year as it was in the past. It’s an interesting topic. This year we are expecting a drier summer with hot strong NW winds. The NW winds are a killer here in NZ especially in the mountains so we stay on the ground. It will affect the summer flying, driving our hours down which is a shame. NZ is the same size as Colorado in total land mass.
This very strong El Niño has started collapsing apparently and we’re now moving towards a period of La Niña. I can’t say the weather’s been any different in the UK, not in the north anyway.
