Online Ground Schools

Has anyone here ever used any of the online ground schools? I’m looking at Part Time Pilot currently.

I’ve used King for almost all of my written tests (8) and have used Sheppard afterwards for test prep. I always scored between 97-100 using this system. King gives me the knowledge and Sheppard helps me understand how the FAA wants the questions to be answered.

You should know that the FAA is changing the way they offer the written tests using something called Automatic Item Generation. Below is a good article about it. The bottom line is that the memorization based systems, e.g. Sheppard, I believe will be less effective going forward.

There are other options that are good, I just haven’t used them. I’ve had several students use Sporty’s. Flight Insight’s stuff is really good too IMO.

My 2 cents only. I used both Sporty’s and King. I found King to be better at explaining the concepts but I preferred Sporty’s test prep.

I’m a student pilot to, medical has been a bit challenging to get but I’ll be applying for it in September if all things go well, I use Sporty’s online.. Love it, bought the IFR by accident first but got the Private Pilot after. It’s pretty good. I will also be taking my written next month also.

I’ve used flight insight for private and instrument and I thought it was excellent.
