I’m sharing because I know a few of you guys have been keeping up with my journey to get started in aviation.
Well…I might not be able to start soon. I don’t qualify for the Sallie Mae loan right now even with a cosigner. I’ve been diving into scholarships but a lot of their application windows are currently closed. I’m definitely open to any suggestions or ideas. I’m bummed that I’m probably not able to start as soon as I’d like but I’m going to make sure I use this time to still be productive towards it. I’m doing to do an online ground school as well as possibly start knocking out some credits towards my degree.
I know I usually share good news on here so I apologize for sharing this setback. I just want to keep my aviation people in the loop haha. I’ll figure something out and make this happen!
@Trevor oh that is not good news! I’m terribly sorry because I can see how disappointing this is for you. Even doing an online ground school, you still need to get in the air if you’re going to have a career as a pilot. Are you able to take ordinary flying lessons and work towards a PPL?
Are you in the US? I have a feeling I might have asked you this already. It’s a bit sad that no major airline can pay for your training based on a rolling scheme. What I mean is, pay for an initial 3 months and see how you do, offering more training if you progress well. Or even view it as a loan, to be paid back once you have a job as a First Officer.
I am in the US. It’s ok I’ll figure something out. And yes I definitely know I’ll need to fly rather than just doing an online ground school haha but I’d rather still be learning so by the time I get to flying I’ll have a pretty good grasp of things.
I did find another school in my area that uses a different lender that actually seems to be better than the one I previously tried. I’m meeting with them tomorrow.
